當你踏上波士頓這塊土地時，可曾想過：誰領你到這裡來？你在這裡做什麼？你在這裡得什麼？

波士頓是美國歷史名城，人文薈萃之地。麻州議會高聳的金色圓頂，驕傲地向世界宣稱：這裡是美國數任總統的搖籃。一流的高等學府，不斷地吸引各地的學術菁英到此取經。棒球、籃球和足球的連年奪魁，也讓你產生與有榮焉的飄飄然。

然而，在年輕的歲月裏，在好像握有整個世界的滿足之下，當你手持Charlie Card 搭地鐵的時候，是不是也同樣經歷著50年前Kingston Trio 演唱”Charlie on the MTA”的歌詞一般，在人生的旅途中，準備下車的時候，卻發現被拒絕，以致於又回車上，永遠不知該如何下車？

什麼才是真理？人生的方向是什麼？五十多年前，年輕的唐崇榮牧師，對人生有比這更多的疑問。

唐崇榮牧師出生於中國廈門。兩歲時，他的家人接受福音。一年後，父親離世，由母親教養他們兄弟四人長大。從此，上帝成為家裏孤兒的父親，寡婦的憐恤者。他九歲時，母親帶他們遠走南洋，在印尼過著沒有當地國籍的寄居生涯。十七歲時，無神論、進化論、辯證唯物論、共產主義的思想瀰漫，使他在年輕時代，嚮往著振奮人心的共產主義，幾乎脫離基督教信仰。

當時他向上帝說：“主啊，如果你是真的上帝，你的道是真理的話，請你解答我問題，使我解脫、使我肯定，重新接受你是基督，接受你的道是真理；否則的話，我就永遠離開你。如果你解答我的問題，我就立志到世界各地，在你的引導下，去解答別的青年人的問題。＂以後，他真正覺悟到上帝是他的主，於是真心歸向祂。

從1961年迄今，唐牧師已走遍世界。他特別喜歡面對各類刁鑽古怪的艱難疑惑，例如「上帝在哪裡？」、「上帝能不能造一塊他自己搬不動的石頭？」…就怕你不來，否則你一定可以藉著他機智地回答，解開許多人生的困惑，學習處理複雜的感情問題和人際關係，以及如何面對社會和選擇職業的挑戰。

如果您打開電腦，上網搜尋他的名字，您會發現世界各地的「唐迷」還真不少。

有人說：「我想最深刻的是唐伯伯這個人吧，我深深佩服他學識淵博，卻沒有沉溺其中而不願被神使用。他不被任何團體所束縛，大膽到各地用神學的理論傳講基督。他也毫無顧忌地指名道姓責備很多教會亂象，講述我們應該要回到追求真理的方向…

有人說：「唐博士談到，經由911事件可以探討人性。…我覺得唐博士的回答一針見血，點醒了事件背後非常簡單的道理，即人性的無限可能性。他說：『無限的愛能產生影響力，反之就造成無限的殺傷力。』

The Rev. Stephen Tong, one of the most respected evangelists in the world, is a servant of God who has preached to more than 30 millions people over a span of 50 years in Asia, Europe, Australia, and in North and South America. Born in 1940 in Fukien, China, and currently residing and ministering in Jakarta, Indonesia(the world most populous Muslim nation), Rev. Tong has been called to be a minister of the gospel at the age of 17. His primary evangelical objectives are to remove rational barriers to Christian Faith and to lead people back to Christ through unified biblical principles. As an evangelist firmly rooted in reformed theology, his dynamic messages have brought innumerable individuals to God as well as revivals to many Christians. Hundred of thousands young people have answered God’s calling to be full time ministers of the gospel in his various meetings throughout the world. In order to fulfill the Cultural Mandate, he also served as a composer, a conductor, an artist, and an architect, and has also developed a vast and extensive knowledge of arts, music, philosophy, science, antiques and architecture. He is the founder and the President of the Stephen Tong Evangelistic Ministries International (STEMI) and at the present time STEMI has established offices in the US, Europe, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Taipei.

Rev. Tong is a member of the International Consultants of the Lausanne Committee of World Evangelization. He has delivered addresses in many international conferences as a keynote speaker, including the World Reformed Congress in Johannesburg 2006, Second Lausanne Congress in 1989, International Prayer Assembly in Seoul 1985 and as the Seminar Leader in Amsterdam 1988(sponsored by Billy Graham Association). On May 22, 2008, Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia conferred an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree to Rev. Tong where he also delivered the commencement address to the class of 2008. Rev. Tong graduated from Southeast Asia Bible Seminary in Malang, Indonesia and later he served as faculty of his alma mater teaching theology and philosophy for 25 years. He also taught at the Reformed Evangelical Seminary in Jakarta where he was the founder, as well as guest lecturing at many leading theological seminaries in Asia. He is the author of more than 75 books, including "Theology of Evangelism", "Strategy of Evangelism", "Between God and Man", "Holy Spirit and Gospel", "The Examples from Christ", and "Culture and the Fall". In 1990, Rev. Tong founded the Indonesian Reformed Evangelical Foundation, which includes a full time theological seminary, the Theological Institute for laymen, the Jakarta Oratorio Society, and a literature department and a theological translation center, and features activities such as city-wide evangelistic rallies, mass theological seminars, and youth and teenager counseling. In 1996, Rev. Tong founded the Reformed Institute for Christianity and 21st Century in Washington D.C., to equip Christians for global evangelization in the 21st Century by training them in the areas of reformed theology, apologetics, evangelism, and the critical study of Eastern and Western cultures. Since 2000, Rev. Tong has preached expository sermons on the Gospel of John, Book of Romans, Hebrews, James, Ephesians and other topics in Jakarta, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, and Taipei every week. Rev. Tong himself regularly conducted performances of sacred oratorios including Bach Magnificat, Handel Messiah and Israel in Egypt, Mendelssohn Elijah and St. Paul with the Jakarta Oratorio Society and Capella Amadeus Orchestra and took them on concert tour to major cities in Asia.

Rev. Tong is also an accomplished composer who has composed more than 200 hymns. As an architect, he has designed more than 30 buildings all over the world. Presently he is building Reformed Center in Jakarta which he designed himself and it may be the largest Chinese Christian evangelical church facilities in the world with 600,000 sq feet of spaces. Its sanctuaries have the capacity of over 6300 seats(The Messiah Cathedral and John Calvin Auditorium were completed and dedicated in September of 2008 and December of 2007 respectively). The Center will also include a library, concert hall, museum, wedding chapel, university tower and theological seminary.
